PREFERRING SON, TERMINATING SON: UNCONTRADICTORY CONTRADICTIONS OF CIVILIZATION

View this @

Abstract

This paper is on the age and sex discrimination as it is found in the tyrant patriarchal society. It departs from the Freudian/Jungian meta-psychological project of universal Oedipus Complex and simultaneously adds something opposite to it. According to author, there is a reverse trend of “castrating” (note that the term is used exclusively for male) the younger one as well as an antithetical drive for preserving the progeny. Instead of “being father, having mother”, which might be a possibility in some kowms, there is another trend of annihilating younger generation, i.e., “satisfied father with (physically or mentally) terminated daughters and sons”. Freud-Jung took their cue from Greek mythology and the present author reiterates the so-called “Hindu” purana (the epic of Mahabharata that explains the repressive forces in society to primal repression by a father jealous of his male child's youth and virility), to elaborate this hypothesis. In the Mahabharata, it was told that Yayati took his youngest son’s (Puru) vitality to restore his cursed aging. This planned process (with Malthusian mindset) of termination of younger generation is observed in the domain of certain society. Thus the author names it as Yayati complex. On the other hand, the caring attitude towards younger generation is named after war-monger Babur, by remembering his effort to save his child. The Babur Complex relates the popular legend of the Timurid Conqueror Babur (1483-1531), who when his son and heir apparent Humayun fell sick and was declared dying by the court physicians , circled his sick bed thrice and prayed for the ailment to be given to him and his wards life be spared to altruistic actions by patriarchal figures in society. In this case, the nexus between saving the progeny and the preservation of private property is also being observed. The author questioned the Freud’s taxonomy of mind and proposed a different taxonomy by rearranging the concept of mind as it is found in sahajiya tradition. The simultaneous and overlapping operations of Yayati and Babur complex (thanatos and eros) originate from context-sensitive ego and not from the Id ( Freud thought that Oedipus/Electra complex was formed from the Id), therefore there is no universal truth-claim on the part of the present author regarding the existence of Yayati/Babur complex as it varies in different spaces and times.

A VERY SHORT INTRODUCTION TO LA FILOLÓGICA POR LA CAUSA

PROFILE: “La Filológica por la Causa is a private and self-governed collaborative society of learned men of letters, unencumbered by past and current religious, political and economical principles; and anticipating to become a vital and utilitarian element of the agenda of the νέα χρονολογία και η νέα εποχή (χρόνος + λόγος), or, in other respects, it is inclined towards nihilism. La Filológica por la Causa enables its members to benefit from projects undertaken in ways that would not otherwise be possible on an individual basis”.

THE HISTORY OF THE GREAT ACADEMIC DICTIONARY OF THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE (pdf complete)

Authors
The History of the Great Academic Dictionary of the Russian Language" (История Большого Академического Словаря Русского Языка) is a massive monograph on Russian academic normative lexicography, starting from academician Jacob Grot's "Dictionary of the Russian Language" to the present edition of "the Great Academic Dictionary of the Russian Language" (GAD). It covers 175 years of history related to the theoretical and practical aspects of normative lexicography, pioneered by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute for Linguistic Studies. The principle languages of the monograph are Russian and English. The text of Terminal Objectives is micrographically reduced to be read with a magnifying glass (included). In practice, "the History of the GAD" shall be considered as the first attempt of introducing this subject matter in English. The Monograph consists of 101 essays and treatises in Russian, English accompanied with essays in French, German and Armenian languages. More than 1,000,000 words were used to describe the subject matter in light of the latest achievements in world linguistics, lexicology and lexicography. The monograph is an introductory volume to the GAD. The entire work, as a single unit, is chronologically arranged essays, directly complementing the main subject. Each chapter can be read, used and lectured independently. Therefore, the work is formulated to appear not just as an appendix to the GAD, serving as a companion volume, but it is also composed and devised to perform as a textbook on Russian academic normative lexicography not just for Russian students of philological studies, or foreign students at Slavic Departments and russophiles likewise, but, in the interim, to play an essential role to function as a guidebook for professorial lecturers and as an illustrious Preface to the Great Academic Dictionary, as well. History, Russian Studies, Russian Literature, Languages and Linguistics, Lexicology, and 7 more

“Philosophical discussion in the absence of a theory is no criterion of the validity of evidence.”
-- A.  N. Whitehead.  Adventure of ideas. (1933:221)

In case of an investigation or in a disciplinary technology, empirically (irrationally  speaking, i.e., speaking in a strict non-Cartesian way)speaking,    data/corpora is the raw material (ephemeral ‘arbitrary signifiers’ in case of linguistics) to built up a theory following inductive method.
Why, then, mere ‘corpus’ is tagged with linguistics, an epistemological disciplinary technology?
‘Corpus’ is not tagged with Physics, Geology, Psychology, Sociology etc (e.g., Corpus Physics or Corpus Sociology), though they are also dealing with data!
Collection of data and arranging them (typing?) in a digital machine do not involve any knowledge or wis(h)dom but a special skill that needs clerical precision. Documentation, no doubt, is a tiresome job. Utilizing a tool (a digital machine) as a repertoire, does not necessarily entail the birth of discipline.
Ascribing static (“thetic...”, Kristeva,1974) meaning to those entries, though needs epistemology and that can be handled by well-established theory-based disciplines:  Lexicology, Semantics, Pragmatics etc.  If we have such levels of linguistic analysis, do we need such dubious coinage, “Corpus Linguistics”?
And each empirical discipline needs data for further observation, experimentation and inductive generalization (one may raise Popper’s [1934, 2009] points for refuting Inductivism here), i.e., data is an initial part of the whole, but neither a theory nor a praxis.
However, it is a salebrated discipline now! Why is it so? What is the purpose of such discipline?
My friend says, “We, the residents of the so-called third world, are part of the data-collection team—don’t you understand that? How dare you? You cannot be allowed to perform theoretical plays.” (Galtung, 1980)

(Episode 03 : Don't Waste Your Garbage  http://www.satyamevjayate.in/Dont-Waste-Your-Garbage/EPISODE-3Watchvideo.aspx?uid=E3-EV-V1&lang=hindi) এর পরেও কি বলবেন, “What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow???
